Women Religious Picnic

The Picnic for Women Religious is an afternoon designed to thank diocesan sisters and nuns for their work and offer them a chance to spend time together. Nearly 90 sisters and nuns attended the annual picnic on June 9th. Some of the sisters who took part, at more than 85 years old, have been serving the diocese for more than 65 years. Several younger novices were also recognized amongst the group.

Taking part in the luncheon were, Benedictine Sisters of St. Walburg Monastery, Villa Hills; Congregation of Divine Providence, Melbourne; Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, Mt. St. Joseph, Ohio; Sisters of Notre Dame, Covington; Sisters of St. Joseph the Worker, Walton – as well as the Franciscan Daughters of Mary, Covington, a public association of lay faithful. The Passionist Sisters, Erlanger, are cloistered and did not attend, but gift bags were delivered to them after the event.

The picnic was hosted by the Serra Club for Vocations, at Summit Hills Country Club in Crestview Hills. Bishop Roger Foys attended the luncheon. He blessed the meal and visited with the sisters. Music was provided by The Angel Band, also known as Noyz Boyz and soloist Allison Riegler. The picnic included a buffet lunch and the afternoon involved games and fellowship. Assisting the sisters for the afternoon were Serrans, the Curia staff and seminarians.
