Genesis

Genesis

Who are we? Where are we going? How do we get there? These are some of the questions we will explore as we spend some time together reading Genesis. Come along and enjoy spending two-hour & half with God’s Word.

Red Sea Crossing

Exodus

The book of Exodus gives us some of the best-known scenes in the Bible. Let’s us take a closer look and enjoy them all over again. We will find spiritual lessons we can apply to our own journeys away from oppression and towards the freedom only God can Give.

Moses

Leviticus

Before they make their way to the Promised Land the people of Israel have to spend time learning how to be God’s holy people. Let us sit in on some of their lessons. We are sure to learn something to help us on our journeys, too!

Mt. Sinai

Numbers

Don’t let the title fool you. This book is loaded with fascinating narratives about Israel’s journey through the wilderness. Sometimes the people got lost along the way. Let us discover how God got Israel back on track.

Death of Moses

Deuteronomy

Such a heavy name for a book that teaches us how to lift up our hearts to God. Let us listen in on the things Moses has to say to the people. We are bound to find something that will help us get closer to God.

Joshua

Joshua

How does Joshua compare to Moses as a leader of the Israelites? How does the crossing of the Jordan River compare to the crossing of the Red Sea? What challenges must the Israelites overcome once they enter the Promised Land? Let us read this dramatic sequel to the wilderness narratives and discover the answer to these questions.

Judges

This book tells us what it takes to become a superhero for God. We will meet a woman of faith who leads her people to victory, a young boy who becomes a mighty warrior for God, and a hero who owes all his strength to God.

Ruth

How did a young girl from a foreign country become the great-grandmother of David the King? This book has the answer. It also includes a wonderful lesson about family loyalty and total trust in God.

1  & 2 Samuel

1 Samuel begins around a family dinner table and ends with competition between two kings for the throne of Israel. There is plenty of drama in this book. Let us take a look at some of its scenes and discover the faith lesson that binds it all together.

2 Samuel tells us about the highs and the lows in David’s long career as king over the people of God. As we make our way through the book we will discover valuable lessons for the journey of faith.

The Psalms

Saint Ambrose called the Book of Psalms a gymnasium for the soul. He explains that Psalter is filled with reflections to help us gain strength for the journey of life. Let us read some of the Psalms together and get a good spiritual work-out.

The Oracles of Isaiah

The weeks of Advent are filled with oracles from the prophet Isaiah. Let us spend some time reading passages from his book and discover why Isaiah is the Old Testament prophet the church turns to most often in this special time of preparation for Christmas. Apart from the Psalms, the book of Isaiah appears most often in the three-year cycle of the Sunday Liturgy.
