Catholic School Principals

To support catechists, Catholic school principals will provide a minimum of 3-hours of faith formation training to their faculty/staff each school year. The faith formation training will count toward the annual professional development hours required of the faculty. Catholic school leaders are encouraged to use the course offerings of Franciscan University’s Catechetical Institute to lead their staff but may use other programs that meet the needs of the school staff as well. It is highly recommended that the school principal collaborates with the pastor, pastoral administrator, or diocesan officials to determine the faith formation course offered each year.

Catholic School Principals must make it a priority to equip their teachers/catechists with the training to effectively teach and share the faith with their learners. Catechist formation and certification training will nurture the faith of the teachers and equip and encourage them to impart this faith to their students effectively. With a solid foundation in Church teaching, Catholic school teachers will more confidently engage students in life lessons beyond classroom materials.
