High School Counselor (Job Share, Part-time, 2 days/week) – St. Henry District High School

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic high school counselor to join our counseling team. This job-share position will focus primarily on providing personal, social, and emotional counseling to a caseload of approximately 300 students. The counselor will also be responsible for academic advising and college/career planning, ensuring students receive comprehensive support to achieve their personal and educational goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address students’ personal, social, and emotional needs.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to students facing immediate issues or challenges.
  • Develop and implement personalized academic plans in collaboration with students, parents, and teachers to support student success.
  • Assist students in exploring and planning for post-secondary education and career options through individualized counseling sessions and group workshops.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to create a supportive and inclusive school environment.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records and documentation of counseling sessions.
  • Stay informed about current trends and resources in school counseling, college admissions, and career planning.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance counseling skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • State licensure or certification as a school counselor (if applicable).
  • Experience working as a school counselor, preferably in a high school setting.
  • Strong understanding of adolescent development, mental health issues, and counseling techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic school environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in counseling practices.
  • Flexibility to adapt counseling strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
