Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our high school faculty. The ideal candidate will provide instructional support and individualized education for students with disabilities, ensuring access to the general education curriculum and helping each student achieve their academic, social, and emotional potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Alternative/Academic Learning Plans (ALPs) in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Deliver specialized instruction in a variety of settings (e.g., resource room, inclusion, co-teaching, or self-contained classrooms)
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and administrators to modify/accommodate curriculum and create inclusive classroom environments
  • Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records and preparing regular reports for ALP meetings and parent communication
  • Provide classroom management strategies that foster a safe and supportive learning environment
  • Attend and participate in ALP meetings, parent conferences, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests
  • Support transition planning and life skills development for students preparing for post-secondary education, employment, or independent living

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Valid state teaching certification with Special Education endorsement (e.g., Mild/Moderate, Severe/Profound, or Cross-Categorical, depending on placement)
  • Experience working with high school students and a variety of disabilities (e.g., learning disabilities, ASD, emotional disturbance, intellectual disabilities, executive functioning disorders)
  • Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and state-specific special education policies
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with writing goals based on areas of deficit
  • Familiarity with differentiated instruction and Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

Multi-Tiered System School Counselor – Catholic Charities

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Covington is seeking a Mental Health Counselor (LCSW, LPCC) to create and implement Social and Emotional Learning programs for children in our local Catholic Schools. Educational and Experience Criteria:

  • State Licensed (preferred) or license eligible.

  • Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed throughout the treatment process.
  • Work in partnership with school and agency mental health counseling teams.
  • Participate in activities that support the mission of Catholic Charities.
  • Attend regular supervision and staff meetings utilizing tools provided.
