Position Summary – History Teacher

Covington Latin School, a college-preparatory institution rooted in the Catholic intellectual tradition, is seeking a passionate and dynamic History Teacher to join our faculty. The successful candidate will inspire students through engaging instruction, a commitment to academic excellence, and a dedication to fostering a deep appreciation for history and the liberal arts.

As part of a close-knit educational community that emphasizes accelerated learning, classical education, and character development, the History Teacher will guide students through historical analysis, critical thinking, and meaningful discourse. The ideal candidate will demonstrate content expertise, strong classroom management, and a collaborative spirit that supports the mission and values of Covington Latin School.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging lessons in history, emphasizing analytical skills, historical context, and critical
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate regularly with students and parents.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary connections and support student learning.
  • Contribute to the broader school community through extracurricular activities, committees, or clubs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in History, Social Studies Education, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Teaching certification or eligibility preferred.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills
  • Commitment to the school’s classical, Catholic educational mission.

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience teaching in an accelerated or gifted environment.
