School Counselor – Notre Dame Academy
Notre Dame Academy is seeking a compassionate, student-centered professional to join our school counseling team. The School Counselor will play an important role in supporting the personal, social, and emotional development of our students while helping each young woman thrive as a whole person within our Catholic school community.
This position includes responsibilities in personal counseling and social-emotional learning, Work-Based Learning coordination, and student support programming. The counselor will work collaboratively with students, families, faculty, administration, and community partners to identify student needs and provide appropriate support, resources, and opportunities.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Providing individual and small-group support for students experiencing personal, social, emotional, or school-related concerns
- Supporting and developing social-emotional learning initiatives and student wellness programming
- Responding to student concerns and collaborating with families and school personnel when additional support or intervention is needed
- Coordinating and supporting NDA’s Work-Based Learning opportunities, including internships, career exploration, and partnerships with local businesses and community organizations
- Helping students develop skills in self-advocacy, decision-making, healthy relationships, resilience, and personal responsibility
- Collaborating with NDA’s counseling, intervention, academic, and administrative teams to support the needs of the whole student
- Participating in student programming and other responsibilities that support the mission and needs of Notre Dame Academy
The ideal candidate will be a caring and approachable professional who enjoys working with adolescent girls, builds strong relationships, communicates effectively with students and families, and works collaboratively as part of a team. Candidates should demonstrate sound professional judgment, discretion, empathy, and a commitment to student well-being.
A master’s degree in school counseling, counseling, social work, or a related field is preferred. Appropriate Kentucky certification/licensure and relevant experience working with adolescents are strongly preferred.
